Abstract
The global objective of the MyMobileWeb project is to drive research and development activities on technologies that will foster conversion of the Mobile Web into a reality present at the heart of every day life. This will require:

  • Solving issues still unresolved in Web 1.0 which have to do with enabling development once-for-all-kind-of-devices of the mobile access channel to Web applications, services and information portals.
  • Exploiting Web 2.0 and 3.0 features in mobility, enhancing the mobile Web experience through an extensive usage of social and semantic Web technologies.

MyMobileWeb will address both questions by following a holistic approach that will ultimately lead to the practical implementation of the “Social Semantic Mobile Web” concept. Note that, in this respect, the “My” prefix in “MyMobileWeb” reflects the usage of Semantic and Social technologies in Mobile Web environments.

Fulfilment of the above mentioned objective will be achieved by means of driving research and development activities targeted to the following scientific and technical objectives:

  • Ontologies for the description of delivery context and the correlation of contents and services
  • Definition of an Abstract Mobile Web User Interface Description Language aligned with current and emerging Web 2.0 standards (such as AJAX) and with semantic annotation capabilities (Web 3.0)
  • Open Source reference implementation of a Mobile Access Channel Runtime and Development Platform (MyMobileWeb Platform)
  • Open Source reference implementation of a Semantic Mobile Toolbar (MyMobileWeb Advanced Toolbar)
Focus areas
  • Drive research and development activities on technologies that will foster conversion of the Mobile Web into a reality present at the heart of every day life.
  • Solving the once-for-all-kind-of-devices issue of the mobile access channel to Web applications, services and information portals.
Expected outcome
The Project will ultimately lead to the practical implementation of the “Social Semantic Mobile Web” concept.
