Abstract
The IGNITE-6G project advances DECT NR+ technology through targeted research and development, focusing on its role in the evolving 6G landscape. The project explores industrial use cases in safety systems, smart grids, and building automation to derive technical requirements for DECT NR+ system architecture and high-level design.
Use case analysis drives enhancements to the DECT NR+ protocol and radio interface, with particular emphasis on system adaptability and communication performance. The project investigates the integration of machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize these aspects. Additionally, it addresses the evolution of DECT NR+ security mechanisms to meet post-quantum cryptographic standards.
A key objective is the development of positioning and sensing capabilities built on DECT NR+, aligned with 6G system requirements. The project also focuses on subnetwork design for scenarios requiring isolated system control, including methods for establishing subnetworks, managing spectrum allocation for black-channel safety communications, and integrating these subnetworks into broader factory systems.
Proof-of-concept implementations will be developed for selected use cases to validate performance in real-world environments. Project outcomes will inform future product and service innovations and contribute to dissemination efforts and standardization activities.
